Our Hosting team manages and supports the infrastructure of all our platforms, from hardware to software, to operating systems to PowerSchool products. This collaborative team helps meet the needs of an evolving technology and business model with a specialized focus on protecting customer data and keeping information secure.

Responsibilities

Description

A Cloud Operations engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, managing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure and services. They ensure the availability, performance, and security of cloud-based applications and resources while monitoring and responding to incidents and issues. This role requires expertise in cloud platforms, automation, and best practices.

Your day-to-day job will consist of:

  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022).
  • Manage and administer Citrix environments including Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (XenApp/XenDesktop).
  • Design, implement, and manage VMware virtual infrastructure, including ESXi, vSphere, and vCenter.
  • Database administration and support for SQL Server or Oracle databases, including backup, recovery, performance tuning, and security.
  • Automate routine tasks using PowerShell scripting to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Monitor system performance, conduct regular health checks, and optimize infrastructure to ensure reliability and high availability.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to plan and execute upgrades, migrations, and patch management.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues related to servers, virtualization, Citrix environments, and databases.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to IT staff and end-users.
  • Managing service request tickets in a queue and working on tickets assigned.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in Cloud Ops Administration with a focus on Windows Server, Citrix, VMware, and databases.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of one or more Windows Server technologies including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy.
  • Experience in making changes in HA environment utilizing zero downtime deployment strategies.
  • Knowledge of web application architecture and underlying technologies, Including IIS, DNS, HTML.
  • Experience writing scripts/programs in industry standard supported scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, productivity and accuracy.
  • Basic SQL query statements: Select, Update, Delete
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Work either independently or in a team environment.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fluid, fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of Active Directory, DNS, TCP/IP framework is a plus.
  • Understanding of modern agile methodologies (Scrum,Kanban) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops is a plus.
  • Knowledge of VMware virtualization technologies, including ESXi, vSphere, vCenter, and related tools is a plus.
  • Preferred Certifications: Azure, MCSA/MCSE, VMware VCP.
