Team Overview

Our Hosting team manages and supports the infrastructure of all our platforms, from hardware to software, to operating systems to PowerSchool products. This collaborative team helps meet the needs of an evolving technology and business model with a specialized focus on protecting customer data and keeping information secure.

Description

A Cloud Operations engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, managing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure and services. They ensure the availability, performance, and security of cloud-based applications and resources while monitoring and responding to incidents and issues. This role requires expertise in cloud platforms, automation, and best practices.

Your day-to-day job will consist of:

• Execute ticket triage, investigation and resolution of reported incidents 
• Responsible for execution of day-to-day tasks related to monitoring and managing moderately complex database systems and infrastructure to ensure service availability and data security, maintain and execute BCDR plans, ensure adherance to database backups and restore policies, etc.
• Monitor and configure systems resources (memory, disks space & CPU utilization), capacity planning, tuning and optimization
• Manage and perform database server software patches and updates
• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations to resolve incidents in support of production systems
• Develops automation that can trigger off a variety of industry standard monitoring tools to resolve common issues in the environment or maintain operating levels
• Work closely with application developers throughout product development SDLC to implement best practices, proper types of file organization, indexing methods, security measures and others
• Contribute to the design of a scalable management of an enterprise database environment including high availability deployment, pluggable databases, encryption and more

Minimum Qualifications

• 4+ years’ experience as DBA
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent degree
• Strong working knowledge of MySQL (AWS RDS), Postgre SQL, MongoDB, MSSQL
• Strong working knowledge of Shell Scripting, Batch Scripting, and Perl Scripting
• Strong working knowledge with Windows, Linux or Ubuntu, Azure and AWS
• Strong working knowledge with Logical Modeling, Physical Modeling, Relational Modeling, ER Diagrams, Entities, Attributes, Cardinality SQL Stored procedures, Functions, Views and triggers
• Experience with the functionality of business continuity, disaster recovery, Virtualization, and CRM products
• Experience with database replication and high availability
• Experience with compute infrastructure changes such as upgrading RAM, creating, mounting and resizing disk drives, etc.
• Experience with data warehouses and Extract, Transform, Load (ETL)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery a plus
