Team Overview

Our Product team leads the direction, coordination, output, quality, and enhancements to PowerSchool's product portfolio. This dynamic, multi-functional team ensures the effective rollout of new products across the platform, packages and positions products to appeal to consumers, and helps set the future direction and pace of innovation in our organization.

Responsibilities

As a User Experience Designer at PowerSchool, you will design intuitive, accessible, and engaging experiences for educators, students, and administrators. You will work across complex workflows, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and leverage research, design systems, and emerging AI technologies to create impactful education solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • UX & Visual Design – 70%
    • Design user flows, workflows, wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes.
    • Simplify complex experiences and improve usability and accessibility.
    • Create intuitive information structures, navigation, and user journeys.
    • Contribute to and leverage the Design System.

  • AI & Innovation – 15%
    • Integrate AI into design, research, ideation, and prototyping workflows.
    • Use tools such as Cursor, VS Code, ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini to accelerate design and build rapid prototypes.
    • Explore AI-powered product experiences while considering trust, transparency, accessibility, and user control.
  • Research & Validation – 10%
    • Partner with UX Research to conduct interviews, usability testing, and gather user insights.
    • Use research and data to validate and improve design decisions.
  • Collaboration – 5%
    • Partner with Product, Engineering, Research, Content, and other stakeholders.
    • Present designs, participate in critiques, and communicate design decisions effectively.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of UX/Product Design experience.
  • Experience designing complex workflows and enterprise applications.
  • Strong skills in interaction design, visual design, prototyping, and information architecture.
  • Proficiency in Figma or similar modern design tools.
  • Experience with design systems and accessibility.
  • Experience using AI tools and AI-assisted development environments such as Cursor, VS Code, ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and self-initiative skills.
