Manager, Cloud Operations

A successful Cloud Operations Manager needs a blend of technical and soft skills. Technical acumen in cloud technologies, a deep understanding of network and security protocols, and proficiency in automation and cloud management tools are essential. Soft skills include strong leadership, analytical problem-solving, and excellent communication.

This position is responsible for overseeing and managing a company’s cloud infrastructure, ensuring that all cloud-based applications, systems, and services are efficient, secure, and running smoothly. This role is crucial in environments where hardware platforms are used for data storage, applications, and critical business functions.

• 5+ years of experience in Software Application Support on a Windows platform in production environments. 
• 5+ years of experience writing scripts/programs in industry standard supported scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Javascript, etc), that automate tasks to improve efficiency, productivity and accuracy. +3 years of experience writing complex and/or integrated automation in a collaborative setting that fosters growth for additional automated add-ons.
• Experience managing a monitoring system that tracks system resources, services, and connectivity. Knowing New Relic is a plus.
• Experience in making changes in HA environment utilizing zero downtime deployment strategies  
• A solid grasp of web application architecture and underlying technologies, Including IIS, DNS, HTML 
• Solid understanding of version control, branching models, software versioning. 
• Solid understanding on how to test code and infrastructure. 
• Solid understanding of databases. 
• Troubleshooting application support issues, fundamental infrastructure issues, fundamental network and connectivity issues.
• Understanding of Active Directory, DNS, TCP/IP framework is a plus. 
• Solid Understanding of modern agile methodologies (Scrum,Kanban)  
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 
• Managing projects and seeing them through to successful completion.
•  
• Support and manage our Proprietary Software Applications on a Windows platform, from web and data layers in both VMs and VMWare, to AD user accounts and security groups, load balancers, and application technologies. 
• Build solutions for automation, updating and improving legacy tools and systems to bring them up to date with current technologies, tools, and processes 
• Participate in project-based work across the organization, as both a contributor, as well as a collaborator bringing operational experience leadership to other teams.   
• Provide operational support to our cloud platform, helping to troubleshoot our platform, as well as participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation. 

Bonus points for: 

• Experience writing Infrastructure as Code using technologies such as Terraform, as well as Configuration Management tools such as Ansible 
• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline. 
• A self-starter who thrives in a fluid, fast-paced, evolving environment. 
• AWS/Azure Associate level certification is preferred. AWS/Azure professional certification is a plus.
